چکیده

With the aim of simulating the behavior of saturated sand with initial static shear (i.e., sloped ground) undergoing undrained cyclic loading, which leads to liquefaction and large cyclic shear strain development, an elastoplastic constitutive model which can describe both monotonic and cyclic torsional shear behaviors of saturated sand under drained and/or undrained conditions is presented. It can simulate qualitatively the stress-strain relationship and the effective stress path, even after the specimen enters fully liquefied state. To verify its effectiveness, the proposed model is employed to simulate the results of a series of hollow-cylindrical torsional shear tests on loose Toyoura sand specimens with initial static shear stress under stress-reversal and non-reversal loading conditions.

Studies on Dynamic Character of Saturated Soft Clays through Cyclic Torsion Shear Tests

A large number of cyclic torsional shear tests on saturated soft clay under unconsolidated undrained condition have been carried out. The changing law between accumulative generalized shear strains vs. failure numbers has been analyzed and a cyclic shear strength curve has been received based on cyclic torsional shear tests. According to the test results, the criterion of saturated soft clay is...

The Behavior of Suction Bucket under Cyclic Loading in Saturated Lands

Numerical modeling was carried out to investigate the responses of suction bucket foundations under vertical cyclic loading. Numerical results were compared with centrifuge experiment results. Before the capacity of the model suction bucket to resist cyclic loading could be investigated, the static pullout capacities had to be determined. The buckets with different aspect ratio are investigated...

Constitutive Model for Multi-laminate Induced Anisotropic Double Hardening Elastic-plasticity of Sand

A constitutive multi-laminate based elastic-plastic model developed to be capable of accounting induced anisotropic behavior of granular material such as sand. The fabric feature or grain orientation characteristic effects through medium are considered in a rational way under any complex stress path, including cyclic loading. The salient feature of the developed model is a non-associative on pl...

Liquefied Residual Strength of Undrained Sand upon A Parametric Approach to Hypo-elastic Model

A parametric study approach evaluating drained/undrained behavior of sand has been developed as a simple/quick hypo-elastic model capable of being used in engineering applications. The volumetric interaction of sand grains behavior against pore water pressure induces the tendency of soil mass volume change to contract/dilate due to variation of effective mean stress on solid grain, pore water p...

Simulation of Stress-Strain Behavior of Saturated Sand in Undrained Triaxial Tests Based on Genetic Adaptive Neural Networks

This study applies artificial neural networks (ANN) to simulate the soil stress-strain relationship observed in test data from triaxial shear testing of saturated sand. A genetic algorithm is used to obtain an optimal framework for the ANN. The results show that the proposed genetic adaptive neural network (GANN) can effectively model undrained monotonic and cyclic triaxial behaviour of saturat...
